So it looks like I made a draft for the final quarter of 2015 but never posted it. Which is a shame because I actually finished most of those projects!
Well, here is my goal list for Q1 2016
1. D&E baby quilt
The baby came a bit early so I’m guessing by the time this gets to them she’ll be about 3 months old. But that’s ok! I’m making this about the same size as the flannel blanket (45 x 50) I made for Davy which he still uses Every Single Night. I need to just cut a couple of long pieces of background and sew it all together, then sandwich, quilt, and bind. I have some coral-pink dot minkee to back it with and once I’ve got it together I’ll decide whether I want to use quilting cotton or do a satin blanket binding.
2. Alligator stuffies
I want to make Davy and D&E’s baby girl matching Alligator stuffies, using this pattern – Playful Stuffed Crocodile. I got really excited when I first saw the pattern (uh, months ago) and purchased all the supplies (including the extra large ric-rac) so I just need the time to make it up.
3. Rainbow Mini Quilt Swap Round 2
I have a plan and a cutting list and need to start pulling fabrics because the cutting will probably be the most PITA part – since I’m doing triangles and diamonds I want to use Best Press before I do any cutting. Luckily, I have the Super Sidekick ruler from Jaybird Quilts which will be a big help. It will involve 42 diamonds and 66 triangles – lots of angled sewing fun! But I’m pretty sure my plan will allow me to avoid y-seams.
4. Giant Plus Quilt
The top has been finished for months but was put aside in favor of other, more time-sensitive projects. I got some wide-width backing fabric so I really just need to sandwich, quilt, and bind – just not sure where in the house I can easily baste a queen-sized quilt top.
5. Beach Quilt
Seriously, it’s essentially done (and we actually used it at the beach back in July) – I just need to finish the quilting part! All I’m doing is ties with embroidery floss. I just haven’t been motivated to work on it. You can see in the photo below I’ve done some of the ties and started threading floss for the other rows. I mean, this is a fabulous quilt that deserves to be completed and to get a proper photoshoot.
Well, given my track record with actually finishing things 5 projects is probably overly ambitious but I’m going to give it my best shot! As much as I’d love to join in some of the fun QALs going on, I’m going to be realistic about my free time.
